"The World Needs Art"

The California Art Education Association (CAEA), San Diego, hosts an annual juried exhibition showcasing exceptional student artists.
Youth Art Month, established in 1961, celebrates the vital role of art and arts education in developing key skills such as problem-solving, creativity, observation, and communication. This national initiative is sponsored by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and organized by local chapters.
Students who earn first and second place in their respective categories will advance to the CAEA Regional Youth Art Month Exhibition being held at the Riverside Museum of Art in early March. From there, selected works will compete at the state level, with state winners moving on to the NAEA’s Youth Art Month exhibition, held during their national conference.
Youth Art Month, observed each March, underscores the importance of arts education for all children and fosters public support for high-quality school arts programs. Administered nationally by the Council for Art Education and sponsored by NAEA, the program is coordinated at the state level by CAEA. It offers a unique platform to recognize skills nurtured through visual arts experiences—skills that are distinct from other academic disciplines, such as problem-solving, creativity, observation, and communication.
Exhibit Viewing Hours
There is no charge for viewing the art exhibit.
Tuesday – Thursday 10:00am to 2:00pm*
Friday 1:00pm – 6:00pm*
Saturday 1:00pm – 6:00pm*
*IMPORTANT: The PCPA is closed Sundays, Mondays and all major holidays.
*Our scheduled matinee and night theater performances will affect art exhibit viewing hours. Refer to powaycenter.com for current schedule.

Parking
While parking is free, please note Parking Passes are REQUIRED on weekdays (Tuesday – Friday) and may be picked up in the main office within the PCPA lobby.
To obtain a Parking Pass: Please pull into the loading zone outside the glass lobby doors (on Titan Way), enter the lobby and proceed to the PCPA Office to the left. You will be issued a temporary pass to park in the lot behind the theater for the duration of your visit.
