"Youth Art Month San Diego 2023"
On exhibit January 4 - January 29
California Art Education Association, San Diego (CAEASD) facilitates this juried exhibition in its county each year along with the support of many entities. Students who receive awards in the first and second place of their discipline participate in the upcoming Southern California YAM held at the Riverside Museum of Art. That show then narrows the awards down to participate in the state show in Sacramento onward to the National Exhibition in Washington DC. Youth Art Month was started in 1961. It is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school arts programs. The National Art Education Association, as a national sponsor through the Council for Art Education, administers the program at a national level, and California Art Education Association administers the program at the state level. The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences unlike any other curriculum subjects, including: Problem Solving, Creativity, Observation, and Communication.
