“Hiding In Plain Sight”

On exhibit January 24 - February 25 (exhibiting concurrently with Stephen Clark)

“Hiding In Plain Sight” is a perfect title for Philip Taylor’s first exhibition, as these 4 words summarize his lifelong artistic journey.

We individuals, artists and non-artists alike, bring our personal experience and perspective to any work of art — this informs our interpretation, again, ‘hidden in plain sight’ for each of us.
Simultaneously, Philip's vision clearly demonstrates the exciting breadth of artistic talent ‘hiding in plain sight’ among us in San Diego.

We hope you enjoy this wonderful snapshot.

About the artist:

Born in Lima, OH, Philip Taylor studied art at Penn State University, then transferred to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT in NYS) to complete his undergraduate studies.  His career as a Graphic Designer interrupted his first love — painting and sculpture.  Along the way, he experimented in furniture design and woodworking, both of which drew upon his recurrent theme: fitting together neatly the myriad, often conflicting pieces of life’s puzzles.

“About five years ago I began hiking the Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve and environs.  Immersed in the overwhelming beauty, I was entranced by the often-silent cacophony of secrets that nature revealed.  I began to focus on capturing those fleeting moments on canvass.  Each painting tells its own story; every one fits into the fabric of our lives.”

Motion. Interaction. Change. These are our constants.  Order from chaos, hiding in plain sight.
