Then 2 Now

On exhibit January 24 - February 25

Artist Stephen Clark showcases California’s beauty with creativity and a unique perspective.  “Then 2 Now” represents both Stephen's evolving talent and his landscape interest.

In Stephen’s words:  “Art is timeless, capturing history.  Landscapes, as well as ourselves, are finite.  Sometimes nostalgia sets in, sometimes tears.  Southern California, especially San Diego, displays amazing bright light!  Capturing landscapes, especially Plein Air, could show a sunbaked field one year and a housing development the next.”

Image:  Painting with the San Dieguito River Conservancy, Stephen was able to capture The Padre Mission Dam, built in 1803. This legacy is available for our enjoyment today but shows its ravage of time. This is something he wished to produce - capturing time!

Stephen took art all through primary school and accomplished an Associate Art Degree, but felt the need to follow the family path into the Aerospace Industry.  So, he returned to school finishing with a Business Degree which equated to a Project Management career for 40 years.  Only pulling out materials when time permitted for all those years, Stephen is now retired and paints full-time with other local artists.

Stephen's compositions have won awards from COAL Gallery in Carlsbad where he often showcase's California’s beauty.  He also attends Sales in the Park with the Coronado Art Guild.
